Note: Grey Bird Home Watch of the South Shore is not a home inspection company, nor a security service. And as much as we love pets, we do not offer house- or pet- sitting services.

What is a home watch service?

A home watch service is designed to give you peace of mind while you are away from your home. Grey Bird Home Watch will watch over your home with regularly scheduled visits (usually once a week) and inspections for potential issues.

Why do I need a Home Watch service?

A trusted, licensed professional service such as Grey Bird Home Watch will act as your eyes, ears and advocate in your absence. We’re insured, bonded and reliable. As prepared as any away homeowner can be, many things can happen in your absence, whether due to vandalism, harsh weather or invasive pests. Our service can be a preventative and curative solution.

How much does a home watch service cost and how do I pay for it?

We will review comprehensive packages with expected needs first, and can review and discuss any unique particular requests and budgetary considerations. Because most services are over time, usually people prefer a monthly fee. Additional concierge services will be determined per each customer’s needs.

How do I know you have visited and/or if you find anything?

After each visit, Grey Bird Home Watch will provide a detailed report. Photos will accompany any problem that needs a visual description and you will be notified immediately if any action needs to be taken. In emergency situations, we will alert you if we have had to take immediate action and to discuss any further actions.

How can I be sure your home watch company can be trusted?

Grey Bird Home Watch is insured, bonded, licensed and accredited. In Massachusetts, home watch companies are required to be licensed by the Commonwealth per Massachusetts General Law Chapter 147 Section 23. Our people are screened and vetted.

How do I know a home watch company has qualified to become a member of the National Home Watch Association?

Membership in the NHWA can be verified by visiting the NHWA Accredited Member Locations Page at nationalhomewatchassociation.org or by contacting the NHWA today at 853-357-6660. Grey Bird Home Watch of the South Shore is a proud member!

If I use an alarm company, why would I need a home watch service also?

Although an alarm company will monitor entry into your home or keep track of fire and other alarms, they will not check your home for other issues that may arise in your absence such as pest invasion, appliance malfunction, lighting and any other issue that signals you are not there.

If a problem is discovered requiring repair services or if I need a contractor to do work while I'm away, how do you figure in?

If it’s a repair, we will decide with the client whether someone that the client works with will execute it, or whether Grey Bird Home Watch will bring in someone from our trusted network. Grey Bird Home Watch can provide entry and watch over any workers entering the home for work being done in a homeowner’s absence. In cases of need for and emergency repair, we will arrange an immediate solution to the problem, and work with the client to make any further repairs. In all cases, Grey Bird Home Watch would be present to supervise and protect the home. Please see our service agreement for details

Are you a service of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts?

No, we are a privately-owned company offering services in the South Shore region.
